Getting a Good Night Sleep With Mammoth.

If you’ve seen my Instagram lately you’ll know that my parents recently moved from our family home in Guildford, down to the wild countryside of Devon. Unlike most people retiring, instead of downsizing from our four-bedroom family house, they’ve up-sized to a four-bedroom, 20 acres of land type of thing, with a three-bedroom barn conversion that will be rented out as a holiday cottage. So when Mammoth got in touch it was literally perfect timing as I needed a new mattress for my bedroom!

I’m still in the process of sorting out my bedroom down in Devon and I’ll hopefully have it sorted after Christmas, but until then I wanted to tell you all about this incredible mattress that has CHANGED my sleep and has even had the parental seal of approval. I moved my old mattress down to my bedroom in my parents’ new place, and my Mammoth mattress was delivered to my London flat a couple of months back.

After the past two months of sleeping on the new Shine Mattress by Mammoth I feel like I can give you all an accurate review of how I’ve found it so far and why it’s made such a difference to my sleep. One of the main reasons I was so keen to try a Mammoth mattress out, is that Mammoth is partnered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and its award-winning technologies are recommended by health professionals to provide pressure relief and help towards easing aches and pains.

After being involved in a high impact car crash back in March (it was an entire front of the car smashed in, all airbags going off, blacking out on impact, all emergency services turning up, and spending an evening in hospital having brain scans sort of car crash), which left me with whiplash, burns, and bruises, I’d been suffering from ongoing neck and shoulder pain which was always worse when I woke up in the mornings.

Over the summer I was really struggling with my sleep for various reasons, and after the crash I was waking up daily with a stiff neck and shoulder on my left side. My old mattress was great but wasn’t the most supportive, so I was really interested to test out a mattress that’s specifically designed for providing pressure relief and helping with issues like I was experiencing.

The Shine collection has been designed with all of the mattresses coming with Mammoth’s naturally cooling Medical Grade™ Foam technology which has been scientifically tested and shown to improve sleep, and PostureCell® technology and zonal support. This means the mattress absorbs pressure for motion, for ease of movement and a barrier from the disturbance of restless partners. All mattresses have been designed to help you sleep more comfortably than ever before, so you can wake up feeling refreshed!

Needless to say I was excited to test it out and see if it helped my car crash injury pain! When deciding which mattress to go for, I had three options with three levels of comfort available – firmer; medium pocket and softer. I decided to go for medium as I never really know which type I should go for to be honest. My mattress was delivered one Friday morning, which meant it had a whole day to air out and get rid of that ‘new mattress’ smell.

That night when I put my fresh clean sheets onto it and jumped into bed, I immediately noticed how much higher it was compared to my old mattress. It felt so luxurious and indulgent – like the Princess and the Pea! It’s now been about two months since that first night, and honestly I’ve noticed such a big difference in the shoulder and neck pain from the car accident when I wake up in the mornings. It might have been a combination of the mattress and a couple of physio sessions and massages, but the difference between the pain with this mattress and my old one is astounding. I still get a bit of pain every so often, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it was before.

Also, while I was on holiday in Dubai and Bahrain a few weeks ago my parents stayed in my flat for a few days, and they said it was one of the comfiest mattresses they’ve slept on (and my Dad is a classic Dad – VERY fussy when it comes to mattresses due to back issues)!

As well as helping me sleep better and wake up feeling more refreshed and in less pain, Mammoth is also the go-to provider in professional sport and has exclusive partnerships with Tottenham Hotspur, the Rugby Players’ Association, British Athletes Commission and very recently the Professional Cricketers’ Association and Professional Golfers’ Association. So you know they’re trusted by the best in the business. Additionally, all Mammoth mattresses come with a 10 year guarantee and are hypoallergenic, meaning they’re perfect for people like me who have asthma and allergies!

If you’re in need of a new mattress, give the Mammoth Shine a try! Two months on, I still absolutely love it.
