London Landmarks Afternoon Tea at Kensington Hotel.

Last weekend myself and my Catherine #2 (aka, CMK) visited The Kensington Hotel to experience there brand-new and *very* instagrammable, London Landmarks afternoon tea. We visited a few years back to test out the Alexander McQueen afternoon tea, and it was an absolute pleasure to return!

I've been to the Kensington Hotel a number of times and it's one of my favourite hotels in London. I just adore the decor and design, and of course the location being so close to the museums and Hyde Park is just incredible!

We began our tea with Perrier-Jouet champagne, and then moved on to the softer drinks. I didn't really feel like tea, so chose a hot chocolate with marshmallows. CMK on the other hand chose the rather boring English Breakfast tea! With our drinks came the first part of the experience; the Colston Bassett Stilton & broccoli quiche, Steak & London ale pie, and Crab cake.

I can't eat blue cheese as I'm allergic to mould (literally, it causes my asthma attacks and eczema flare-ups), so they replaced it with a sad-looking lettuce and quinoa salad...which was quite literally a piece of lettuce with a sprinkling of quinoa on top. Thankfully the Steak & London ale pie and the Crab cake more than made up for the salad - both were super delicious and I absolutely loved them both!

And then the beautiful London Eye tea stand was brought over to us! It really is impressive, and we snapped plenty of photos before getting down to business.

We began with the adorable sandwiches with the crusts cut off, and a mini brioche bun, before moving on to the scones. I've said this before but I'm actually not much of a scone person (shock horror!), and so I just had one raisin scone covered in strawberry jam and thick clotted cream.

And then the desserts. You will all know by now how much of a sweet tooth I have, but even I couldn't finish the array of sugar that lay before us! My favourite was the Red Telephone Box, a rhubarb mousse that was light as air and satiated my sweet tooth perfectly! The rest of the desserts; The Gherkin, The Shard, and Big Ben, were all very rich and we both struggled to eat them all. The Shard was my least favourite, I found it a very odd flavour combination and it didn't taste of carrot cake at all.

We spent almost four hours enjoying our afternoon tea and catching up over champagne! It was the most wonderful afternoon and it reminded me of why I adore The Kensington Hotel so much; it feels like a beautiful luxurious home where you can while away the afternoon without feeling rushed or unwanted. The staff make you feel so welcome that you never want to leave.
