Luxy Dating App Review – I’ve Found All The Polite Men.

Today I have a rather different review for you all. You may remember how last month I told you all about the new luxury dating app, the Luxy dating app. The main reason I agreed to partner with the Luxy app was because my nickname amongst close friends is Luxy (my surname is Lux), and found it hilarious that a dating app should share my name…but the second reason was because I was so intrigued about how it would work. So after a month of using it in London, Geneva, and New York, I finally feel as though I have a good understanding of the way it works.

Luxy Dating App

First impressions of the Luxy app

The first thing I noticed when using the Luxy app was that all the men on it are so polite. Ladies, you will not get any unsolicited d*** pics here, no ‘I think you’re fit let’s go on a date’ messages, and no men posing with a drugged up tiger while on a gap year in Thailand. It was a refreshing change after the short time I spent on Tinder last year, which I joined after I felt like I was missing out on sharing hilarious stories with the girls in our various whatsapp groups.
After filling out my Luxy app profile with a mysterious ‘non-disclosure’ on income and ‘Media Entrepreneur’ job title (it asks the sort of questions you would include on an old MySpace profile, just in a more sophisticated and mature way), I set about swiping.
After swiping left on a few much older men, I realized one major issue with the app…there was no way to set an age limit. Whereas with the likes of Tinder I could set the age between 25-35, on the Luxy dating app you’re stuck using up precious left swipes (you only get a certain amount of swipes per day) on men in their fifties that you would never even consider. It made me feel a little uncomfortable if I’m honest, I wasn’t keen on random men older than my own father being able to look at my profile, and send me a message if they had the paid Luxy Black option.
However, the men more my age that I did swipe right on (ladies, there are some very good looking men on this app), came up with an instant match – every single one. Which made me worry that they were all doing that thing guys do when they swipe right on every single woman and hope a fraction of them swipe right on them also. But, all of them were super polite. A little too polite for my liking…I mean come on, keep it interesting please.
The only ones I doubt would have been so polite are the ones I swiped left on – the ones who listed themselves as ‘handsome’ ‘sexy’ ‘hot’ ‘Millionaire’ etc… #cringe

Luxy Roses and Income Verification on the Luxy app

There’s also a thing on the Luxy dating app called ‘Luxy Roses’, and during the summer, they had the ‘Aloha Flower’, which you can send to someone you like the look of. My favourite feature though was ‘Moments’, it was basically the Rich Kids of Instagram feed but within the app. I’m a super nosey person so I loved seeing photos on the Luxy dating app from the parties people were at, the holidays they were on, and the flash cars they were driving (I’m a bit of a supercar lover…). It was a little like having a social app within a dating app.
You can also be sure that the men are who they say they are, because when they have been photo-verified and income-verified (by them submitting their tax details to the Luxy dating app team), they get a little gold ‘verified’ badge. And don’t worry gents, the same goes for the women too 😉 You can see an example below of a guy I matched with in Geneva who was income-verified.

Using the Luxy dating app in different cities

So did my experience of the Luxy dating app differ depending on the city I was in? Not massively, but a little. In London there was definitely a much larger amount of fast cars and Europeans visiting the city for the summer. In Geneva I didn’t use it too much as I was super busy, but there were heaps of French people using it and definitely a lot more ‘verified income’ users. And in NYC, they love the Moments feature out there, which was great for nosey ole me! Also there were a fair few preppy Americans on it so if that’s your thing download Luxy dating app and get on a plane to NYC haha.

Luxy dating app vs Tinder

And would I recommend the Luxy dating app over Tinder? It’s definitely interesting and of a much higher calibre, it was refreshing to not have to pretend I know about gap years and hostels and budgeting and eating 2-minute noodles, and it was also refreshing to chat to someone who knows exactly what you’re talking about.
But a lot of the guys came across as quite boring and reserved, and just a little too polite for me, and despite the promise of each user being let in based on looks, there were a fair amount of very unattractive old men on there. But don’t get me wrong, there were also a lot of incredibly attractive men on there, so I guess it all balances out. I feel like I need an app inbetween the two…or ya know, just meeting a person in real life.
Fancy trying the Luxy dating app for yourself? You can download it free for iOS here, and Android here.
*I’ve partnered with Luxy to bring you this post, but as always my review is 100% honest

Still love the fact that you found a dating app called Luxy. It's good that you can see people's party photos, kind of lets you know they've more normal!

I cannot get over the tickle-factor that you have a dating app named after you! (Yeah, I know it's a coincidence, but allow me our special snowflake delusions) I've heard of the app but never got a chance to use it because surprise, surprise, I actually met a lovely person on Tinder (well, it's no surprise to you…you've heard me talk about nothing else). Luxy (the app) sounds like good fun – the verification factor is such a good idea. x

I am so intrigued by this! The verification factor is a major plus for this definitely! I am not on Tinder but as far as I know FB is the only verification for Tinder – which I am not sure is the best verification there is. And of course, factual information is not verified. I guess the fact this is a luxury dating app results in older people being on it resulting in more polite people? Of course, difficult to make assumptions but thats a good guess. Enjoyed the review – very fun!

I recently came across this app…but have a question. Do I, myself have to be a millionaire? If not, is that something the men are expecting to match with? Yikes…I wish I could find a mature man who is well rounded…but I definitely do not make that kind of money!
