Dinner and Dancing at 100 Wardour St.

Last night Mimi and I hit the town to party at the newly launched 100 Wardour St in Soho. We started with a delicious dinner in the restaurant, then moved to the dance floor where Nick Grimshaw DJ-d and rocked the house with awesome tunes, and we danced the night away! Mimi and I were long overdue a catch up, we’ve been friends for over 10 years but I hadn’t seen her since last summer as she’s been living up in Stratford-upon-Avon while performing with the RSC, but she’s finally back in London! If you’ve been watching Mr Selfridge lately you may recognize her, as she’s currently playing the part of Tilly for the final season.

After getting ready together at my club, we arrived at the restaurant at around 9pm to a buzz of people both outside and inside. The atmosphere as we entered the restaurant was electric, and after checking in our coats we were shown to our table downstairs in the club. 100 Wardour St is part of the D&D Group and has replaced Floridita (which in my opinion was no match for the Havana version), and being a part of one of my favourite restaurant groups (you all probably remember my love for Quaglino’s and Orrery), I had high expectations.

We were both starving so decided to share a few starters; Pork Belly, Baby Octopus, and King Scallop Ceviche. All of these were absolutely delicious, and I would have been happy just eating all of the seafood starters!

The Pork Belly (£4) had a perfect crispy crunchy topping, and beautiful layers of meat and fat.

The Baby Octopus (£5) was so tasty and zesty from the lemon and chive flavours.

My favourite though was without a doubt the King Scallop Ceviche (£12), a beautiful mix of fresh ingredients and citrusy flavours, it was the ideal light starter before our heavy mains arrived.
Mimi chose the Lamb Cutlets (£24), and told me she absolutely loved them!
I opted for the Galician Fillet of Beef (£28), which I found a little too salty for my liking, but aside from that it was an excellent cut of beef and very tender. As always I asked for it medium rare, and thankfully, unlike Barbecoa last month, it arrived cooked to perfection.
After seeing numerous desserts go past us we decided to go for it and treat ourselves. I asked the waiter for the profiteroles (£6.50), and he asked if we were going to share them. My response was literally ‘Haha! Hell no’ *bitch please face*. The profiteroles were incredible. I mean, I ate all of them. Yeh. Then Nick Grimshaw, Pixie Geldof, Jack Guinness, and Nicola Roberts sat down on the table next to us right as I was stuffing a profiterole into my mouth and I almost choked on it. So attractive.

Mimi ordered the Molten chocolate with iced milk and caramlised pecans (£5.95). I tasted a little and oh my goodness, you guys. It was the best molten chocolate I’ve ever tried in my life. It looks oaty and not chocolate-y at all, but it’s a rich dark chocolate dessert with a soft centre and crumbly topping. It was decadent and just amazing.
After dinner we ordered a couple of mojitos and wandered over to the private dining room with them to meet Dan, and the gang who were having drinks in there with some peeps from Warner Bros., and Radio X DJs, Alex Zane and Phil Clifton. Dan and I caught up (we worked together at my old job – we sat next to each other for six months and had the best time working together, so many funny moments), and we all took some drunken photos before Nick Grimshaw came on! I also met the lovely owner of 100 Wardour St, Des Gunewardena!

When Grimmy came on everyone went wild and the dance floor was completely full! We spent the rest of the night dancing, stopping only to refresh drinks.
It was one of those epic nights where you go home and think ‘that was the BEST’. Thanks 100 Wardour St, we’ll be back fo sure!

PS: The last couple of Bangkok posts will be going live over the next few days – I just thought you guys might need a break from them all 😉
