I don’t often do tag posts, but after Angie recently tagged me in the ‘Sisterhood of World Bloggers’ one, I thought why not! The questions are kinda fun and they’ll give you a little insight into me and my travels. So without further ado…
Where is your all-time favourite destination?
My all-time favourite destination is what it has always been the majority of my life; Australia. It’s a place so dear to me and so close to my heart. I first went when I was seven years old, and over the years have visited the majority of Western Australia. I have fond memories of roadtripping up the coast to Ningaloo Reef and down south to Albany as well as countless trips to Margaret River. We also roadtripped inland and around the Northern Territory. If I had the opportunity I would move back there in a heartbeat, it’s the place I want to raise a family and grow old. It’s a magical place, and it’s safe to say I adore this country.
Which post are you most proud of?
Oooh, this is a tough one. Travel-wise I think my Cuba Travel Guide, but overall I think my Eczema one. Even though it has nothing to do with travel or food, it’s my most viewed blog post and even three years later I still get emails from people all over the world thanking me for helping them to feel less alone.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party, alive or dead?
OK I’m gonna skip this one as I just can’t decide. Sorry!
Do you have a favourite travel app?
I don’t usually use travel apps to be honest, but like Angie I’m totally addicted to Instagram! I’ve had a personal Instagram account for a few years now, but I only set up an account for Lux Life in April/May 2015, and I’m SO proud of how far it’s come in such a short time! I’m around 9,000 followers at the moment, all grown organically, but I really struggle with engagement which gets me down a bit. You can follow me here if you fancy regular doses of wanderlust!
What’s your favourite and least favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing about blogging is the people! I’ve met so many awesome people through blogging, many of those I now class as friends. Two people in particular I met through blogging, Jemima and Hannah, are now two people who are both pretty big parts of my life (you’ll see Jemima quite a lot on here, and Hannah you’ll see on here whenever I’m back in Perth), and I love them both dearly. My least favourite thing about blogging is the huge focus on stats. When I first started blogging in July 2011 I had no idea there was even a blogging community, let alone brands who worked with bloggers, I just blogged because I enjoyed it. I find myself stressing out now (see instagram above), and I hate it with a passion.
Is anything you like to do any time you visit somewhere new?
I always keep a note of the currency from every country I go to. In Cuba you’re not actually allowed to do this and they can be quite strict on it, so I hid my Che 5 CUP note in my bra just in case immigration tried to take it off me :/
Where is somewhere you’ve been or something you did that you didn’t expect much of, but ended up loving?
Budapest! I went on my Budapest trip not really expecting much. I’d won the flights from a competition and had never really considered visiting before, and it completely blew me away! It’s such a beautiful city and I fell in love with it. I recommend it to everyone now as a bargain city break in Europe.
What’s your pet peeve?
Slow people. I hate people who walk slowly, especially in airports when you’re rushing to get to your next gate! I also can’t stand it when hotels have badly lit bathrooms and nowhere where you can sit and do your makeup. Why does every luxury hotel make you stand in front of a poorly lit bathroom mirror!?
What’s your most treasured possession?
Gosh. That is a tough one. I’m not sure to be honest. I’d say my phone or camera but those are easily replaceable. My old Nikon D40x is pretty treasured as it was my first DSLR camera. I got it in January 2008, and I worked all over the summer/Christmas holidays in Australia to save up for it to buy it myself when I was 16. I also have a few really personal things that I would be absolutely devastated to be parted from. Also my hard drive with every digital photo I’ve ever taken between 2003 and today is pretty treasured!
