My Morning Routine with Belvita.

So this is a very lifestyle-y post from me today! I see 'My Morning Routine' videos floating around Youtube all the time, so I thought I'd do a blog post version in partnership with Belvita! My mornings are quite hectic as I have a 1.5 hour commute to work, so I rarely have time to have breakfast until mid-morning once I'm at my desk and have gone through all my emails.

I start my morning with the alarm going at 6:45am, I then jump in the shower, and after getting dressed I spent about 30-45minutes doing various blog stuff; answering emails, posting on social, finishing a blog post etc. 15 minutes before I have to leave for the station I do my makeup, brush my teeth, and then I run out the door. Thankfully I don't dry my hair and just let it air-dry naturally on my commute.

I get to the train station around 8am, and after an hour and a half on the train and tube, I'm at my desk. I then have a load of emails to go through and answer, and then I usually eat a pot of greek yoghurt and a banana. In the winter I have a bowl of porridge. By the time I have breakfast I'm absolutely starving, and I just want all the food

When Belvita got in touch and offered to send me a package to help me achieve a #morningwin, I thought it was worth a try! Maybe the Belvita bars could be that perfect inbetween waking up and breakfast snack that I needed to curb the hunger until I had time for breakfast? They sent me a selection of their new bars, as well as a fancy Black + Blum lunchbox and an equally fancy travel mug with a 'C' etched onto the front! Oh la la!

Naturally a package designed for the colder weather and rubbish mornings isn't complete without a lovely warm hot water bottle. It was pretty perfect timing actually, just days earlier my boss had suggested I bring a hot water bottle to work as I'm always freezing while everyone else is boiling (I really feel the cold!)

My first day of trying the Belvita 'soft bakes' bars I opted for the Red Berries flavour. The bar did the job, and satisfied me and my belly long enough so that when I finally ate breakfast I didn't want to also eat every single crumpet in the work kitchen. I wasn't so sure about the flavour and texture to be honest, I found it tasted very much like a protein bar; quite dry and cloying. I much prefer the traditional dry Belvita biscuits. The next day however I tried the Golden Grain flavour, and although the texture was the same I much preferred this flavour and found it tasted less artificial.

I'd definitely repurchase the Golden Grain bars, although to be honest I think I'd much prefer the original crunchy ones. When I was at University four years ago those packs of biscuits got me through early morning lectures and were so easy to just throw in my bag and have on the go. I guess it depends on your personal tastes and whether you prefer soft bars or crunchy ones.

What's your morning routine like? Have you got any tips for me? Have you ever tried Belvita?

  1. I think I would love these, I will have to give them a try. I only eat porridge ever morning. I have an hour drive to work myself so my morning is always a big rush
