Iris Boutique's 10th Birthday.

This week was Iris Fashion Boutique's 10th birthday celebration. With four stores across London, and stocking brands such as Isabel Marant, Jerome Dreyfuss, and ACNE, they've come a pretty long way. I headed to the party with Jemima and Shev on Wednesday, which was held in Iris's original boutique in Queen's Park, North London.

We were greeted with delicious cocktails and glasses of champagne, and the windows were full of sparkly outfits perfect for the Christmas party season. As well as womenswear Iris also stock the cutest kids clothing, so alongside adult-sized sparkly dresses were miniature childrens-sized sparkly dresses too. A photographer worked the room, while we chatted and mingled, nibbling on perfectly formed canapes.

Rosie Fortescue arrived shortly after us, and Shev introduced us as she's worked with her in the past. She was absolutely lovely! We then made a new friend in Gabby, a lively American girl from LA, who's just moved to London and is currently working with one of the big local magazines. She doesn't really know anyone in London and she was good fun, so we took her under our wing and told her she now has a few new friends!

We had a really lovely evening, there aren't any pics of me in this (shock horror!) because it was raining and I forgot my umbrella, so looked an absolute disaster. I do love boutiques so so much. There's just something special about them. They're really big in Australia, and whenever I go back over there I make the most of them and buy something special from one. That's the great thing about boutiques, yes they stock some big brands, but they also stock lesser known ones and have pieces that you're not going to see every other woman wearing.

Iris have boutiques in Queens Park, Battersea, Chiswick, and Amersham, so if you're ever in the area, do pop in and have a browse. It really is so important to shop locally and support the local community, not to mention, Iris have some really gorgeous gifts as well as clothing - perfect for Christmas!

  2. I love Iris - I remember when it first opened in Queen's Park and I was so excited to finally have a boutique in the area! They always stock such wonderfully covetable things and you're right - it's so important to shop locally! xx
