Bumble and Bumble Surf Range.

I've heard soooo much about the Bumble and Bumble products, but I've honestly never wanted to part with my hard earned cash and pay the crazy prices these products sell for. However when I heard about the new surf range, I had to try it, I missed my beachy hair I had when living in Australia; the dry salty feeling and it being all wavy. So when I was asked if I wanted to review the shampoo, conditioner, and surf spray, I jumped at the chance. I've been testing it out for the past few weeks, so here are my thoughts...

When the products arrived the first thing I noticed was the packaging of the shampoo and conditioner, it instantly reminded me of summer and the ocean! After cooing at the pretty packaging, I then took a look at the ingredients, and as I thought, there are quite a lot of chemicals in these, in particular SLS's, which actually trigger the eczema on my eyes. These days I mostly use natural hair products, however I do use 'normal' ones every now and then just for a bit of a change, so that's how I've been using the Bumble and Bumble Surf range, and so far it's been absolutely fine and I haven't had any eczema issues.

So, gorgeous packaging and ingredients out the way, and onto the actual product. The shampoo lathers really well, so well you really don't need much, which is good as each bottle retails at around £18. It smells ah-mazing, it actually smells of the ocean, all salty and dreamy! The conditioner is surprisingly not a very thick consistency, it's an in-between sort of not thick and not so runny it runs off your hands before you have a chance to get it on your hair. I've been using both of these around 2-3 times a week for the past 5 weeks, and I'm only a third of the way through the bottles, so they do last a long time depending how much you use them.

So do the Bumble and Bumble Surf Shampoo & Conditioner do what they say they do? Yes. They don't give me the exact same look as when I've been on the beach and in and out of the water all day, however it's as close as it's gonna get using just products. My hair isn't as wild as when I have actually been on the beach, but it still has that dry salty feeling and has much more buoyancy and volume to it than when I use a 'normal' shampoo and conditioner. It also gives you that natural 'I've totally washed my hair then left it to dry' look, and the products do make your hair smell outrageously good and fresh!

Now, the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray I'm not so sure about when using it with the other surf range products. Yes it's a great handy little spray for using after the shampoo & conditioner, however I really don't think you need it with them, and I didn't really notice a massive difference when using just the shampoo & conditioner, and using them with the surf spray. However, I did notice a difference when using my 'normal' shampoo & conditioner with the surf spray. Using it this way made my hair more wavy and beachy, but not as beachy as when using the Bumble & Bumble Surf Shampoo and Conditioner...if that makes any sense?! :/

Basically, if you can't afford the full range, it doesn't make a lot of difference, you can easily just choose between the shampoo and conditioner or surf spray, whichever would work best for you. However I will say that if your hair is in bad condition, just the surf spray would be a good option because the shampoo and conditioner may dry your hair out too much.

I loved trying out these products, however I'll probably just purchase the surf spray and then use my normal hair products with it for pretty much the same effect. The Surf Spray does almost the exact same thing as the shampoo and conditioner, without drying your hair out too much. Also this will reduce the chances of it aggravating my sensitive skin with the shampoo's SLS's. If you don't have sensitive skin and want full on beach volume, definitely go for the whole range!

If you'd like to purchase any of these products, you can buy the 125ml bottle of the Surf Spray at Boots for £20.50 (they also do the smaller version for £8 if you'd prefer to try that first to see if you like it), the 250ml bottle of the Surf Shampoo at Boots for £18.50, and the 250ml bottle of the Surf Conditioner at Boots for £20.00

*These products were sent to me for review purposes, however all my views are 100% honest.

  1. I never wanted to splurge so much on hair products, however last day I ordered two Bumble and Bumble conditioners (the coco range), I hope I didn't wast money! Btw I'm really attracted from this Surf range... these days I'm trying to do a Surf spray DIY version, finger crossed XD

  2. I love the packaging. I've heard great things about these range and want to try it so bad :)

  3. Now I'm growing my hair out I've been experimenting with a more tousled look so I might just have to give this Bumble and Bumble range a go. I think I will go for the Surf Spray rather than the whole range. Thanks for the review!
