Breaks, Fremantle.

As you know from my brunch posts, I'm a huge fan of Sweet French Toast, and as Australia was where I first discovered this taste sensation, naturally I had to bring you a review while I'm here. I first discovered it at the Blue Duck in Cottesloe, however most places in Aus do it pretty well, so I decided to check out Breaks in Fremantle with Caitlin.

We both got the Sweet French Toast piled high with vanilla syrup, bacon, berry coulis and vanilla ice-cream. *drools*. So, so good. The bacon and berry coulis went surprisingly well together, and the entire dish was just so incredibly moreish.

If you live in WA or are visiting, promise me you'll try this place? It's right in the centre of Freo so super easy to get to, and they have indoor seating or outdoor - we chose outdoor as it's on the side of the street so it's fab for people watching!

Happy Easter, hope you've all scoffed lots of chocolate!

Rotto, Australia.

The other day Anna and I headed over to Rottnest Island for the day. It's a little paradise island about a half hour ferry ride from Fremantle near Perth. You can stay there overnight and for days/weeks at a time, but as I don't have much time here this time I'm in Australia, we just went for a day trip. We got the first ferry out and the last ferry back, and spent the day lazing on the beaches of this beautiful island and eating a lot of yummy food! We also befriended a Quokka or two, but our favourite was definitely Bill.

This is Bill the Quokka...how amazing is he! He's definitely smiling. He loved us.

"Now then Bill, you can only have this piece of twig you desperately want, if you stop running away from me, ok?"

As we got to the Island so early we headed to Dome for breakfast. They do awesome breakfasts!

After breakfast we headed to the beaches! It was a bit chilly and cloudy in the morning, around 18 degrees, but throughout the day it got warmer until it reached about 24 in the arvo. We started at The Basin, before heading to Salmon Bay, and eventually Ricey Beach.

We had a pretty good picnic...

Solo is my favourite soft drink, ever.

and the Rotto Bakery does the most amazing pies!

The sun decided to come out for  a little while, so we headed to Ricey Beach where I managed to go swimming - yay! Sadly the clouds came back though....

We then missed the bus back to the main town, so had to hang out at the bus stop for half an hour.

Cue taking photos while we waited...

When the bus finally arrived we headed back to the Rottnest Hotel in the main area to have a drink in the pub there. It was blissful sitting overlooking the bay with a glass of wine in hand.

After drinks we grabbed a humongous carrot cake from the bakery and ate it on the beach while waiting for our ferry.

Such a fun day, see ya soon Rotto!

Australia - Instagram Updates.

So for the past couple of days I've been busy enjoying myself in the sunshine with friends. My first day back I had a lazy morning, relaxing by the pool with my aunty and uncle's dogs, unpacking, and stocking up on cherry ripes and lamingtons. I then went to the local shopping mall with Andrew, where we had my favourite; Red Rooster for lunch! Finally! After our unhealthy lunch we then went 'round the shops as Andrew needed some new things...and as usual, just like when we were in Vegas, I was an awful influence and he bought loads more than he originally planned. He even had to buy new hangers for everything!

In the evening I went for dinner with an old friend in Fremantle, and then we drove up the coast to Cottesloe beach, after seeing the sculptures on the sand at Cott, I managed to persuade him to take me further up to the beach near my old house; City Beach, where I ran along the sand and dipped my toes into the crashing waves while the stars sparkled in the sky above. It was bliss.

Today I went to Rottnest for the day with one of my old school friends Anna. I'll tell you more about that tomorrow! So until then, here are a few little instagram update images!

The smell of the Peppy Trees is my favourite smell ever, the smell comes out more than ever after the rain.

I was really early for meeting C for dinner in Fremantle, so I had an amazing iced chocolate in Dome to pass the time!

Me on Ricey Beach at Rottnest Island. Rotto is one of my favourite places in the world, and we had a really great day just lazing around on the beach and eating lots of food!

Solo is the best drink ever. Fact.

Ricey Beach on Rottnest is my favourite beach there, it's always empty and the water is crystal clear!

Ending the day with a glass of wine at the Rottnest Hotel Pub, overlooking the beach and Thompson Bay :)

Home Sweet Home.

A couple of hours ago I landed in Perth, Australia, the sunshine state. For two weeks, I'm home. I wasn't even born here, I just lived here, worked here, and went to school here as a teenager, yet the smile on my face won't budge, my heart is racing with excitement at being back here in this incredible land down under, and I can't wait to see my friends tomorrow. For the next two weeks I'll try and blog a bit about my trip, but don't expect too many posts as I'm only here for 2 weeks, so really just want to spend as much time as possible with my friends rather than stuck inside on a computer! I'll probably just blog a couple of food reviews and my favourite places/beaches :)

But for now, here's a photo of my current view...and a little quote to match.

Isn't it beautiful?

3 Cromwell Launch.

Last night was the launch party for 3 Cromwell, the new club that has replaced Dorsia, and the new club with Howard Spooner at its helm. Howard Spooner gave us PUBLIC and Dukebox, so he's a pretty cool guy in my eyes. The event turned out to be really great, and the bar and club are pretty awesome with a very risque Great Gatsby theme which I loved, but things unfortunately got off to a bad start. I hate writing bad things, but this I need to...

Usually at press night's and launch events at clubs the cloakroom is free, as are the drinks. I got to the cloakroom with two massive bags as I'd just come from work (the event started at 6:30am), and my huge winter coat, and was told it would cost me £6. Usually this wouldn't be an issue, but I had no cash on me and they didn't take cards. I was taking my stuff back and putting my coat back on (absolutely humiliating when there's a huge queue waiting behind you) when luckily a random guy took pity on me and very kindly offered to pay for it for me. If it hadn't been for him I would have been at the launch of a new club wearing a thick winter coat and carrying two huge and very heavy bags.

I thought I was being silly and over-reacting about being annoyed with the cloakroom situation, but we then met a couple of girls who were there with Marie Claire, so we were discussing all of this and it made me feel so much better for complaining and being put out by it! They had the same issue with the cloakroom. It's not the fact you had to pay, it's the fact that it's usually free so you turn up with no cash, then have to go through the embarrassment of having no cash and having to take your stuff back. So many people were walking around with all their bags and coats because they'd had the same problem! The next issue was that they were handing around canapes and mini burgers, and the burgers were raw in the middle and stone cold, that's just plain dangerous.

NOW. Away from the bad, and on to the GOOD! The venue? Awesome. The decor and design? Awesome. The music? Awesome. The staff? Awesome. Everything aside from the food and little niggles? Awesome. So, let me introduce you to 3 Cromwell, the hottest new bar in London town...

I wore black skinny jeans from ASOS, black heels, a black silk top and my new jacket which is a bit of a bargain from Dorothy Perkins!

The awesome band! No idea what they were called but I'll find out for you!

The girls and I

The awesome ceiling

Art work on the walls - this is an 'appropriate' piece of art. There were lots of really risque inappropriate pieces too!

Clearly I was having way too much fun!

Champagne!

There are three levels to 3 Cromwell, there's the club in the basement, the bar and outside area on the ground floor, and the bistro and bar on the first floor. The band were on the ground floor and then there was a jazz pianist and singer on the first floor. He was also really good, and I loved the atmosphere upstairs, it was really relaxed and chilled out. There are Great Gatsby quotes on the walls in neon, which is perfect with the film coming out soon!

Despite the bad start, we had a really fun night and will definitely be coming back to 3 Cromwell! Plus it's great for people watching and celeb spotting; Rizzle Kicks were there last night, and I'm adamant I saw Ronnie Wood there too! Apparently David Gandy was also there, but I didn't see him, which is probably a good thing as if I had I think I might have been thrown out for my actions.

If you fancy heading down there for the public launch this weekend email reservations@3cromwell.com to get on the guestlist. The club is perfect for clubbing or if you want more of a piano bar atmosphere, and it's on Cromwell Road in South Kensington, right opposite the Natural History Museum and next to the tube station! You can also follow them on Twitter. Let me know if you head down there and what you think of it!
