Girls Night at The Carter, Sydney.

The Carter is a Beyonce and JayZ themed bar in Sydney’s CBD. It’s had a lot of press over here ever since it opened last month, so when Laura invited me to join her and a few friends for dinner and drinks there, I obviously said yes! Also Laura is awesome and ever since our Dubai adventures I’m always up for a night out with her. We tested a variety of The Carter’s offerings, including the Kimye cocktail, the Notorious fries, and The Carter chicken wings. Then we descended down into the hip-hop club beneath the restaurant for some serious dancing…

We arrived at The Carter around 6:30pm, and were sat on a high table near the bar. There isn’t a lot of seating, so you’ll need to book in advance to make sure you get a seat. On first view the bar looks super shiny and classy, but then we realized that it wasn’t table service and you have to order at the bar. They then give you a number similar to those tacky ones you get in cafes…I mean at least have numbers that fit in with the aesthetic of the bar!

Anywho, after it took forever to actually order, we could finally relax. All of us work for difference agencies in the media industry, it’s such a small world, even though I’ve only been in Sydney four months, they all knew a few of my colleagues from past jobs!

Eventually after absolutely ages our cocktails arrived. I’d chosen the Kimye, which was a mix of vodka, casoni 1814, passionfruit puree, and orgeat. It was super sweet but oh so good! The others girls chose the Crooked Hillary and the Obama Out! Other cocktails had names including Snoop Lion, Famous, and Pablo.

The music in the bar was absolutely ah-mazing. Srsly. Omg every single tune was a TUNE. As in a just-gotta-seat-dance tune. Obviously with it being themed around Bey and Jay Z, the music was all Hip-Hop and RnB, but I was surprised with how little Jay Z there was!

We ordered a selection of food, including the absolutely incredible Notorious A.N.I.M.A.L Fries, which was a huge bowl of fries covered in a combination of Mac & Cheese, Crispy Bacon, and Cheese. We also had The Carter Chicken Wings, Nas Sticky Lamb Ribs, El Chapo Spiced Chorizo tacos, and the Slow Cooked Beef tacos. Everything was tasty, but I found the Chorizo tacos a little too spicy for me.

After we’d eaten our food we ordered more cocktails, and then the prosecco came out. All of a sudden our dinner descended into a full-blown drunken night out as we went downstairs to the nightclub. We had a really fun time, but it was insanely hot down there and the music wasn’t as good as upstairs. We stayed a while, had a dance, and then headed back upstairs to settle our bill.

We had such a fun night out and I will definitely be going back! Apologies for the mobile photos, but I wasn’t planning on blogging it – I enjoyed it so much that I just had to tell you all about it!

This girl’s night event looks brilliant. I am just so pleased to see these photos. We are also thinking to throw a family party and at this time we have been seeking suggestions for the affordable outdoor NYC venues for this bash. Hoping to find a good venue soon!
