Celebrating Cherry Blossom Season at Sake no Hana.

I just got back from Antigua yesterday (posts coming soon!), and the night before I flew out there I went for dinner at one of my favourite restaurants in London, Sake no Hana. Suraya and I had some exciting things to chat about (we’ve been working on a secret little project lately), and I needed her advice big time, so we went after work on Friday and tested out their latest Sakura menu to celebrate spring and Cherry Blossom season.

I actually preferred this menu to last years, I thought this year it was much more substantial and loved the different variety of flavours.
The bar at Sake no Hana looked beautiful with stunning pink cherry blossom trees and a grass floor, and it seemed apt that I started with the Kaori Arpège cocktail, which was a delightful mix of Beefeater 24 gin, yuzu sake, cherry liqueur, peach bitters, grapefruit juice and agave.
The cocktail came with three atomisers to spray onto the cocktail, each altering the taste of the cocktail with each spray. My personal favourite was the black cherry and cinnamon one!
Suraya doesn’t drink alcohol, so she opted for a cherry flavoured non-alcoholic cocktail which she loved!
Shortly after our drinks arrived our first course appeared. A lovely light white miso soup. I love how warming miso soup is without feeling heavy – and who doesn’t love sipping soup straight from the bowl?!
Next up was the Bento Boxes filled with sushi, shrimp nigiri, and yellowtail tuna, tuna, and salmon sashimi. I’m not a salmon eater so Suraya had my portion of salmon and I had her tuna.

My favourite piece though was the seabass sushi wrapped in an aromatic bamboo leaf.
For mains was my favourite dish of the night; the Chicken Sumiyaki with a spicy shichimi sauce. It was probably the best chicken I have ever tasted, I adored the caramelised chicken with a gorgeous honey-soy flavour coating the crispy skin.
Dessert was as impressive as last year, and another melt in your mouth dish. The cherry chocolate sake mousse tasted incredible, and the texture of the mousse combined with the chocolate crumble and sake jelly was delicious!
Our final treat was a cherry blossom macaron each. Vanilla macarons with a cherry blossom tea ganache in the centre, they were the perfect end to such a wonderful meal and matched the decor of the bar perfectly!

I have never had a disappointing meal at Sake no Hana, and think it’s a great value for money considering the amount of food and the cocktail you get! The Sake no Hana Sakura menu is priced at £34 per person and is available until 18th June.

*Our meal was complimentary, but as always all views are my own

Works of art. That isn't an outrageous price considering what's pictured.
