Zetter Townhouse, Marylebone.

I’ve been waiting months for Zetter Townhouse to open in Marylebone, and finally it’s here. It’s a swift 5minute walk from my office, so naturally I had to test it out to see if it was good enough to be a new watering whole for the work gang. I met up with Emma and Zoe for some after work drinks to check it out.
Zetter Townhouse is a boutique hotel with a rather lovely bar called Seymour’s Parlour. It very much reminded me of Mr Foggs and Barts from Inception Group. It felt very old-world and traditional, with kitsch little decorations and design features. It has moody lighting and feels very Sherlock Holmes. We sat ourselves in a little corner and perused the cocktail menu.
The cocktail menu isn’t particularly long, in fact I was surprised at how short it is. The majority of the cocktails are strong ‘proper’ cocktails, fairly masculine, none of the fancy-schmancy fruity concoctions that drown out the taste of the alcohol.
I’m not particularly good with the strong cocktails, which was evident when my first one arrived. It contained Cognac, Cider Apple Brandy, Apple Caramel & Apple Wood Bitter. I took a sip of the Last Laugh and grimaced (how ironic…), Emma kindly offered to swap, she chose the Elderflower Kir which was far sweeter. Thankfully we both enjoyed each others cocktails!
Zoe wasn’t feeling great and so was very good and just had a pot of tea! How gorgeous is the tea pot though!?
For my second cocktail I thought I’d go for something I know I like; absinthe. I adore the liquorice taste, and as it’s such a powerful flavour I knew it would drown out anything I didn’t particularly like. The Fleur Du Mal contained Rose & Orris Vodka, Lemon & Absinthe, and was gorgeous and refreshing – an incredibly drinkable choice.
We spied some people getting food but decided to be good. What we saw looked delicious though! I think I’m gonna have to pop back in with the work crew soon and order some of the yummy-looking courgette chips! And I know, I only got a photo of one cocktail…I’M SORRY. I’m such a rubbish blogger at times. Also apologies for the dark photos – I did say the lighting was moody. My shaky hands just can’t handle the slow shutter speed in that kind of light.
We had a really lovely evening at Zetter Townhouse, and I’d recommend it to anyone. It would also be the most perfect place for a date – it has the right lighting, atmosphere, and top notch cocktails!

I've been to The Zetter in Clerkenwell (East London, represent!) and I loved it. I'm curious to see what I'll make of the new Marylebone Townhouse! Time to venture West…x

Sounds like an adventurous little place. I prefer the sweet, fancy alcohol drowned out cocktails too, so I feel your pain… but absinthe? Really?!

Shame I couldn't make it but sounds like you all had a blast and you can't beat a good absinthe cocktail, so deliciously decadent
