Burns Night.

I have a friend who is a member of The Honourable Society of Inner Temple, and they were having a Burns Night on Friday, so he invited me and a few other friends to go with him. It was a black tie event, so we got dressed up and then got a taxi to the place, and were greeted by a piper. There was a drinks reception first, and then we were led into the main hall, which was absolutely beautiful!

Of course there was the Piping in of the Haggis;
'Chairman asks the guests to be upstanding to receive the Haggis. The piper leads a small procession comprising, the Chef, presenting the Haggis on a silver platter; the person who will "Address the Haggis"; and sometimes a third person carrying a tray with a "tot" of whisky for each in the procession to "toast" the Haggis. During the procession, the guests clap in time to the music until the Haggis reaches its destination at the table. The music stops and everyone is seated in anticipation of the Address to the Haggis'

After the piping in of the Haggis we had our three course meal. The portion of Haggis in the main meal was huge! I love Haggis, but it is extremely filling, and I just couldn't eat it all the portion was so big. We also met a really interesting guy, he had been in the Army when he was younger, and then built up his own company, and now he's training at Inner Temple to be a Barrister. He also served in Rwanda during the Civil War, and he told us to watch Shooting Dogs, because apparently that film is closest to the reality of what it was like to be out there. His stories of being in Rwanda were incredible!

After dinner it was time for some dancing! Unfortunately there were only four dances :( which made us all sad, so we went to the RAC for drinks afterwards to cheer ourselves up, haha.
Here are some photos;

Australia Day.

So yesterday was Australia Day! Happy belated Australia day to all you Aussies! I celebrated with a group of friends, we had drinks at the Royal Over-Seas League, and then a few of us went to the Hilton Park Lane for cocktails at the Galvin at Windows bar. So I guess we had a very 'British' Australia Day...very different to my Aussie Days in Perth haha.

Galvin at Windows was fabulous, it's situated on the 28th floor of the Hilton Park Lane, and has views all over London. We got a table by the window and the view was perfect! The cocktails were great, but pricey (£9 for a non-alcoholic), but it was definitely worth it for the view. Unfortunately service was very slack, we had to wait ages for our drinks and at one point they even forgot to put our order on the system so ended up waiting about half an hour just for four drinks! Anyway, here are some photos, enjoy :)

The first one is of me in a friends' sexy glasses, and the second one is of the three Aussies. The guy in the middle, Ben, is a real Aussie, but myself and Claire either side are 'fakes' lol, we both just lived there for a while, but weren't actually born there.

Products and a Dog.

So this post is going to be a bit of a mixture. I'm gonna post a lil bit about my favourite beauty products at the moment, and then post about my Puppy dog, Dylan.

Ok so last week I posted about my favourite hair products to use just in general, well in the top left hand corner are my favourite hair products to use when I'm using rollers, the L'Oreal Studio products are A-mazing! I love them so much! And then in the top right are my perfumes/body spray's...all are Victoria Secret; Bombshell, Pure Seduction body spray, and Romantic Wish (which is now discontinued...NOT happy!) these three all smell gorgeous! Bottom left are my face wipes, usually I stick to the plain green simple wipes, I have to be really careful with which ones I use as my skin is so sensitive. I find Simple and Nivea are the only brands I can use without coming out in a rash. Anyway, these Mango wipes smell amazing. Bottom right are my moisturiser's. Body Shop Mango body butter - heaven, and then of course the Soap and Glory hand food also smells incredible! Anyway, just thought I'd share my January favourites with y'all :)

Now, as you know from my blog post yesterday, I've been trying to make my Dog, Dylan, famous, to get the chance to become a Summer Intern at Saatchi and Saatchi on their Graduate Scheme. This would be the opportunity of a lifetime, so please, if you can like the Facebook page, follow the 'Dylan Blog', blog a post about it on your own blog or tweet the link to the Facebook page, all this would help immensely! Basically they judge who gets through to the next round on the amount of likes on the Facebook page, and who can get their chosen person/animal the most 'famous' online. So I need to get as many 'likes' on the Facebook Page as possible! I also took Dylan for a walk today and got some new photos. Take a look :)

I Have to Make My Dog Famous.

URGENT HELP NEEDED.

I have applied for the Saatchi and Saatchi Graduate Scheme 2012. If I get this opportunity, it will make my career. I  really really REALLY want this, and need this!
The requirement for round one of the competition/race? Create a new celebrity on the internet. So, I am attempting to make my Dog, Dylan, an online celeb! What I need from you, my readers? A page like, and a tweet. If you have Facebook, please please go HERE, and like this page, and then share it with your friends and ask them to like it. If you have Twitter, please please tweet about it with the link to the page, and follow; @Dylan_TheDog
If you are a blogger, please blog about it and ask your readers to like the page and tweet! The Facebook page is the most important thing because that is what they judge...the amount of likes. But obviously tweeting and blogging about it will gain more likers/fans :)

The plan is to upload photos and videos of Dylan...he's a pretty funny lil guy. He is scared of guinea-pigs. And enjoys walks. And eats cheese and runner beans. But isn't so keen on grapes. He also high-fives, and plays
dead. He also knows the names of all of his toys and can fetch each individual one on command. Who wouldn't want to like his page and see him become famous?

How can you say no to this face?

Quote Of The Week #1

Hello lovelies, so I've always been addicted to quotes, and I come across so many that I want to share with y'all, so I've decided to do a 'Quote of the Week' every Sunday :) Let me know in the comment box if you have any good quotes!

151.

So yesterday I drove into London at around 11am, parked at the club, and then wandered around the shops in Knightsbridge; scored some bargains in the Zara sale, drooled over the handbags in Harrods, and had a cheeky Starbucks lunch. After lunch I headed to the V&A museum to meet my friend Sarah of aMuse Fashions, to go to the Fashion in Motion show with Olivier Saillard.

'Join Olivier Saillard for an exclusive boutique-style performance. Museum director, curator and performer Olivier Saillard, regularly stages unique fashion based performances for an invited audience during Paris Couture week. Working with five famous French models, Axelle Doue, Claudia Huidobro, Anne Rohart, Violeta Sanchez & Amalia Vairelli, Saillard and his team will investigate the gestures and poses of the fashion model as they have evolved and changed throughout the history of fashion. The show will illustrate the importance and impact of attitude and movement in the presentation of fashion and how we associate certain poses with certain eras and styles of dress.'

The show was absolutely fabulous, it was amazing to see the 'behind the scenes' of a fashion show, and there were a couple of models that were absolutely stunning, Violeta Sanchez and Axelle Doue, they took my breath away! The way they worked the materials they were modelling, the poses, and the way they walked just captivated me. They walked down that catwalk with such ease and class, and it really made me want to learn how to walk in heels properly. They just looked like they were floating down the catwalk! I was also impressed that these French models weren't all 'perfect', two of them had noses like mine!!!!! Which I was very happy about, as I've always been very self-concious of the shape of my nose.
After the show I headed back to ROSL to have a rest and then get changed before going to the Lansdowne. The Lansdowne was a proper girlie night, all the girls were there apart from Ciara and Lotte, and I finally had the pleasure of meeting Sarah of Yull Shoes!! Unfortunately I was a wee bit tipsy...so I'm not sure if I made any sense when talking to her!?
After getting very drunk at the LC we all got in a taxi and headed to the Kings Road. We were trying to decide where to go, and decided on 151 (pronounced one-five-one, not one-hundred-and-fifty-one), as it's only a tenner entrance fee and it's good for dancing. We got there at about 11pm, and it was empty, they had only just opened. Now, 151 isn't really a very 'impressive' club, it's a grimy basement club, with plain and shabby furnishings and a small dance floor, but it's perfect really for a cheap, drunken night dancing and throwing alcohol everywhere (which is what happened last night), and they did play really good music. BUT I think you really need to be drunk to go there, it would be a truly shit night if you were sober. Thankfully  we were all very drunk.
Love this shop so much, the name just gets me every time!

I love my hair in this photo, lol!
All in all it was a fantastic day/night, it was exactly what I needed after my stressful essay, I had a wonderful relaxing time shopping and mooching around, the fashion show was so much fun, and then the night was just epic. Debaucherous as always. The worst part was getting the night bus back to my friend Mel's house...I've never been on a night bus before and it was full of weirdos and the men wouldn't give up their seats for us...my feet were killing me. Thankfully it only took 5mins or so to get back to hers. I'm still wondering why we didn't just get a taxi!?

Golden Globes 2012.

So last night was the 2012 Golden Globes, and of course, all eyes were on the dresses, especially when Ricky Gervais didn't perform as well as last year. I'm a little confused as to why everyone is going on about Angelina Jolie looking so great...personally I think the dress just made her look so pale that she looked as if she belonged on Ducky's table. The dress is beautiful, but not on her. Kelly Osbourne looked dreadful as well, what is with the grey hair!? Just no!! And that dress? Yuck! Thankfully Jessica Alba showed them how it's done, she looked absolutely stunning, I am in love with her Gucci dress.

Within clubland you get to meet and hear about some pretty interesting people. I'm not gonna lie, it is like a London version of Gossip Girl. My posts about clubland events are all censored...if I revealed the uncensored versions then there would be pandemonium...a TV show would most definitely be made, and there would be a lot of very unhappy people having their gossip splashed across the internet. Through a friend of mine within clubland, I have recently heard of a company called Yull Shoes, which is owned by Sarah Watkinson-Yull, who I believe is also in the clubland circles (we have 14 mutual clubland friends on Facebook...bit of a hint). Anyway, my friend has a pair of her shoes, and apparently they are amazing. So I took a look at her website, OMG, incredible! They are beautiful! The colours and styles are so unusual, yet classy and sophisticated. I am in love with the Grosvenor and Primrose shoes, and she also has a beautiful pair of Chelsea Boots! Sarah's mantra is 'Style over fashion', which I think is perfect, and I really want to meet her now and do an interview for the blog. Hopefully we'll be at the same event soon so I can tell her how much I love her shoes. If you fancy taking a look at her shoes you can go to the website, and follow her on twitter.
Here are the photos from the website of the Grosvenor and Primrose shoes (I hope she doesn't mind me stealing the photos...?)

London Life.

Well I have most definitely made up for being bed-bound the whole of last week! Friday night I drove into Central to go to a friend's birthday celebrations. For the first time ever I had to work my way 'round the A40, usually I drive from Uxbridge to St James's via the M4/A4, but as the Hammersmith flyover is closed and it was rush hour, I decided to take a detour and go the other way to avoid the traffic. It worked. Until I got lost. Thankfully I had my tomtom, and after cutting up a bike, I finally got to the club. It was a little strange driving through Westminster instead of through Chelsea and Knightsbridge...I definitely prefer the M4/A4 route to the A40. As usual I parked at the club (it is the best feeling in the world having access to free parking in Mayfair), before heading in to meet a friend for a catch up. After our catch-up we headed for some dinner at Caffe Concerto, I had the Lasagne, which was really tasty! Then we headed over to the Lansdowne for the standard TGIF drinks with everyone before jumping in a taxi to 86 Fulham Road to join the birthday celebrations. It was fantastic to see everyone after missing out the previous week due to my sickness, and I finally got to wish my friend Lotte congratulations on her recent engagement (men everywhere are currently cutting themselves about the fact she is now off the market). And I know she will read this as she is an avid follower, so congratulations again lovely!!

Now, unfortunately, once the excitement of seeing my friends for the first time in two weeks - TWO WEEKS! - was out of the way, I wasn't feeling great, I realized I still felt sick, and therefore maybe I shouldn't have come out. And because I was driving, I wasn't drinking. A sick Catherine who can't get drunk =  a very miserable and sulky Catherine. And it made it even worse when people were asking me what was wrong because I wasn't on 'full form' like usual. So eventually everyone managed to persuade me to drink...oh dear. I got drunk, I couldn't drive, I ended up crashing on a friend's sofa again and waking up to be faced with Uncle Howard yet again (a super scary old portrait painting that hangs above the fireplace opposite the sofa...his eyes follow you wherever you go!) But my friend's house-mate and I had a bit of excitement on our walk home...we walked past Louise from Made in Chelsea. She was wearing leather skinny trousers, a huge black feather coat, and was talking to a hairy man at the entrance to a dark alley. We liked her coat.

After waking up with a banging headache and being confronted by Uncle Howard, I had to work out how to get to the tube station....cue tomtom! It literally saved my life! I am awful at directions, but luckily I brought out my trusty tomtom, and walked around the streets of Chelsea with it until I found Gloucester Road tube station. Unfortunately I had left my change of clothes and sensible flats in my car (I always have them in my car...you never know when you might need a spare set of clothes and shoes!), so had to walk from Lotte's to the tube station barefoot (a 10 minute walk, but no way was I walking in my 5inch heels with a hangover), with my tomtom, in the clothes I was wearing the night before (thankfully the dress was a reasonably respectable dress, and not something I would only wear in the dark). Cue tourist bus stopping right next to me. Nice. And slightly awkward.

So I eventually got back to Green Park, grabbed my keys from the front desk at ROSL and then headed to the bathroom to get changed and freshened up (that club really is a god-send), before heading to a cafe for some breakfast (cafe's are the only places where it's acceptable to eat by yourself!). After strolling around London for a couple of hours I had to get to Islington for a Social Marketing course. Again, cue tomtom! I really wouldn't have found my way from the Barbican station to Cowcross Street without my tomtom...and I spent the whole walk worried that someone would mug me for my tomtom, Blackberry, Camera and Hermes watch. After my course I had to get back to Green Park yet again (as you can probably tell by now...I pretty much live there), to meet two friends, Claire and Chris. We then went to Ed's Easy Diner on Old Compton Street in Soho for dinner. I decided to be good and just have the Chicken BLT burger instead of my usual Big Bubba, but then I ruined it by having the Oreo Cookie Malt Shake (HEAVEN). Seriously, if you haven't been to Ed's before, GO. It's amazing, it's a proper 1950's style diner, they do the best food and the staff are incredible, they honestly can't do enough for you. it's basically the UK version of the US's Johnny Rocket's. It is my favourite place to eat when I'm in central. AND I've just noticed on the website they now have a restaurant in Mayfair! Score! Definitely need to try that one out - it's closer to le club. So after dinner we headed back to the club for tea (hot chocolate in my case), and then I eventually got home at around 10:30pm. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow, and I've had the laziest day ever today (it's 7:45pm on Sunday and I'm still in my PJ's).

The Ceiling of 86 Fulham Road, how cool is it!!!

The barmen were AWESOME!

Procrastination.

So for the past couple of days I've been trying to write a 2,500 word essay. I've written 134 words. It's due in tomorrow. Woops. I'm literally finding every form of procrastination possible. So far I have; slept, driven to random places, done the food shopping, cleaned my room, cleared the rubbish (old bags, receipts etc) that was in the bottom of my wardrobe, put out the rubbish, washed strawberries, eaten strawberries, plucked my eyebrows, tried on new clothes, opened the packages that contained my new clothes, painted my nails, done more online shopping, and now I'm cooking my lunch/dinner and am about to do all the washing up. I've also been tweeting celebrities telling them it's my 21st birthday and asking for a re-tweet...even though my birthday isn't until April. Has anyone else noticed how celebrities always seem to re-tweet people when it's their birthday? I bet they're lying just to get a re-tweet...just like me.

New Image.

So I've had a bit of a change around with the blog template. Let me know if you prefer this one or the old one, either on Facebook or here.

Also, I've found the most beautiful dress ever, and some shoes I want. The dress I actually found on Pinterest, it's a Christian Dior one from 1955. I want. But will never have *sigh*. The shoes I could have, they're from Ted Baker, (what is it with their pretty things this season!!) but I have to wait until I get paid, and I'm actually thinking they're a bit glittery for me - not very practical...I'd probably wear them once.

Les Miserables.

YAY! I got tickets to go see Les Mis while Ramin Karimloo and Hadley Fraser are in it *swoon* love them both! AND I got a top price ticket in the stalls for just £25 :D They're doing a special offer on the official Les Mis website - '25 tickets are available at £25 for under 25's for all performances excluding Saturday evenings. Available on seats up to £65 - subject to availability.'

If you want a ticket, Click Here to book. But you'll have to play around quite a lot with dates and time, and remember Ramin doesn't perform on Monday or Thursday evenings and he finished his role as Jean Valjean on 3rd March 2012. I'm seeing it end of February, so thankfully he'll still be in it, and this will be the fourth time I've seen it...but for the first time ever, I'm going all by myself! I've actually always wanted to go to the theatre by myself, I think there must be something quite relaxing about it. When I go with people it always pisses me off because they always talk to you throughout the performance, so at least going by myself I won't have anyone bothering me, lol! I'm going to the matinee performance, so maybe I can see if one of my friend's wants to meet me for some dinner after...that way I won't be a loner for the entire day, ha. But I will make sure to tell you all about the show the day after :)

New Years Eve.

Last night I went to my friend's NYE house party in Chelsea. We got far too drunk (mandatory on NYE of course), and spent the night dancing. Sadly I didn't take any photos myself, so I've had to thieve some from friends! *slaps wrist*

Everyone finally left the party at 6am and a few of us who were staying over went to sleep for a couple of hours at 'Chateau Brouwer' before heading to Vingt Quatre for Breakfast (only in Chelsea can you get eggs and caviar for breakfast...at a mere £60). I am now exhausted. Worst hangover ever. Time to sleeeeeep.

Enjoy the photos...
