A Pre-Christmas Escape to North Wales.

Things have been pretty hectic lately with work and my social life, I haven’t really gotten out of London or the surrounding areas for a good few months, and I needed a break and rest. So last weekend I escaped to the country and headed to North Wales to visit my wonderful Grandma, and my best friend and god-daughter (see previous post; ‘A Weekend in Wales‘ for my last trip). I left London Friday night, after the work Christmas party, and took the Monday off work, so I had a great long weekend relaxing with some of my favourite people.
Hope the office dog and I at the office Christmas party.
Now, usually I drive to Wales, but because of the office party I decided to get the train from Euston as it’s just round the corner from work. I got a Virgin train, and it was probably the most disgusting train I’ve ever been on. Anywho, Saturday my Grandma and I had a lovely day relaxing, we went to the Erddig Christmas Markets near where she lives, and they certainly got me in the festive spirit! There were food stalls, gift stalls, a live band, punch and judy, santa’s grotto, a choir, reindeer, and an owl sanctuary!

The owl holding thing was really supposed to be for the kids – but I just had to hold one, look how cute they are!

After the Christmas Markets we went for a delish pub lunch, before going home and spending the afternoon watching Christmas films and Strictly. Ahh, it was the perfect Saturday.
The next day I spent with my best friend Anna and god-daughter Rosie, as it was Rosie’s 2nd birthday party. Before her party we went to Ellesmere to feed the ducks (aka killer geese!). Anna and I ran screaming from the ducks, while Rosie giggled and chased them.

After conquering the killer geese, we went for a pub lunch (I do love my pub lunches), before heading back to get ready for the party! It was another wonderful day. I just wish I could see them all more often, it really does suck living so far away.

My final day in the country was spent with Grandma, having a lazy morning wandering round Llangollen, before she dropped me off at the train station and I headed back to the big smoke. The weekend of fresh air and rest did me the world of good, and I’m now all ready for Christmas and the next few months of hard work before I head back to Australia at Easter. Bring. It. On.
The beautiful Llangollen. The train station by the river with the mountains behind.
